An enjoyable evenings racing in the final round of the Race Department VSCC Season 3 championship, that saw Paul take a fantastic 9th place after impressing with his pace for the whole event and I took a recovering 14th place after getting fairly bogged down in the midfield for most of the race. Paul was very quick throughout practice and he took an amazing 6th place in qualifying, which was his best of the season by far, while I started in 12th. Paul got a bad start, but his pace quickly moved him into a battle with the faster end of the field and he coped admirably with it. His pit stop, like mine, seemed longer than some other drivers and it dropped him down the field, but he recovered well to take an excellent 9th position, and his second top ten placing of the season. I struggled at the beginning of the race and fell down to 19th place at one point after losing momentum approaching two spinning cars. I fought my way up to 15th place and took 14th on the final lap from a retiring Franklin Stegink. There were a few offs along the way and the tyre wear was a real factor, but the hard slog finally paid off.
We have still to see the final standings, but I believe the team may have finished 5th in the constructors championship which would be a terrific result. The drivers championship is more difficult to predict, but I think we should both be extremely pleased with our performances and results throughout the season.
