The Mighty Forth’s first ever event turned out to be a memorable one, as both myself and Paul exceeded our own expectations and scored points for the team in what was a very difficult race. The race didn’t begin well for me as I ended up starting 28th after qualifying 18th due to a disconnection placing me in the wrong part of the grid. I made the most of it though, moving up a few positions at the start, and trying to avoid the carnage up ahead. Paul was hit early on and lost his rear bumper, but thankfully he was still showing some good pace. Eventually I got some clear air and pitted with Paul on half way. We came out together and Paul passed me for 16th place heading into the second half of the race. Paul had Martin Palm for company for the remainder of the race, but I was stuck is a lonely 16th place until Bruno Sousa Ferreira pitted on the final lap and moved both of us up a place to 14th and 15th! Absolutely delighted with the result after a lot of preparation for this race, and the realisation that, not only is the Bayro marginally slower and harder to drive than some of the other cars, but that makes the result so much more satisfying because of it!
