Another good result for the team after Thursday evenings race at Interlagos, although both myself and Paul felt we could have been even higher in the standings. After a much more successful build up to the second event of the season, both of us were showing better pace in practice and took some confidence into the race.
Unfortunately, I had a terrible start after qualifying in 12th place and by the end of lap 1 I was sitting 18th. Paul faired much better and moved up the field into the points, although at the end of the first lap he had a bit of lag which ended with him colliding with Sven and losing his front spoiler. It didn’t seem to affect his pace and he began to pull away from the battle behind between myself, Phillip and Terence. I didn’t have the pace to overtake either of them and it wasn’t until after my pit stop when a few cars dropped out that I found myself in 15th position. Paul pitted much later and he eventually ended up behind me towards the end of the race.
In the end I took 14th place, while Paul took 15th, which was a fantastic result for the team again, but we both felt that there was a couple more places available if we’d used a slightly different strategy. On to the next race at Instanbul!
