RDTCC Season 9 Rounds 5 & 6 Suzuka

Rounds 5 and 6 of the Race Department Touring Car Championship at Suzuka (Kansai) on Saturday evening produced a mixed bag of results and performances from the team, and in the end it was me for the first time who came away the happiest with an 8th place in race 2, my highest position of the season.  It all started so promisingly with Paul, Mark and myself qualifying inside the top 20 for the first time, but it was all to go wrong for two of us, as I dropped to last after being spun around and Paul suffered problems as well, meaning we both finished low down in the placings.  Mark faired the best with a solid 15th place finish.  Race 2, and the reverse grid, gave me some optimism starting in 3rd place, and it worked to some extent running at least half the race inside the top 5 and only dropping further when the faster guys started making their way through the field.  Paul and Mark had problems further back though and a mistake from Paul caused an accident that took both of them out quite spectacularly.  Mark eventually retired and Paul finished disappointingly in the lower half of the finishers.  Jonathan on server two produced a couple of solid drives to finish in 13th place for both races and although we’re keeping the points ticking over, The Mighty Forth have dropped to 4th place in the team standings, while TMF have solidified their position in 13th.
