My last championship before The Mighty Forth team comes in to play, and the penultimate round of the RD Mini Challenge ended up quite a good one for me after a terrible start. I qualified in 9th place after a reasonable run, but as has been the case this season, I’m just not quick enough when the pressure is on in the Mini.
I got a good run off the start and made up a couple of places, before being tapped from behind on lap 3 and getting turned 90 degrees and was hit hard on the side. The car was veering very slightly to the left after that and I thought it was going to be difficult to stay on pace, but I kept up really well with the cars ahead. Running in 11th by this point, I caught and had a great battle with Ariciuc Razvan, but we both managed to turn our cars over on the same corner (screenshot above) and I fell back to 12th. After pitting on half way I found that I’d made up quite a few places due to only changing my front tyres which saved about 12 seconds.
Eventually making my way up to 7th place by the end, I was delighted with that result as it matched my best of the season so far. I’m up to 6th (31 points) in the championship with only one race to go, so it turned from being a potentially disasterous evening to quite a positive one!
