Welcome to The Mighty Forth

Welcome to my new sim racing team and blog!

I’ve been sim racing online since 2008 and offline for a lot longer than that, but I decided to go into semi-retirement at the end of last year to concentrate on competing in small championships and one-off races.  The pressures and time needed for the year long championships was becoming too much, so I decided to start my own team and start enjoying the fun aspects of it again!

The website will carry news of the team, the races, the drivers and any tips I can pass on that I’ve picked up over the years.

The team name ‘The Mighty Forth’ comes primarily from the Firth of Forth estuary in eastern Scotland where I’ve lived my whole life, albeit in different places close to it!  It’s an iconic waterway with the famous Forth Rail and Road bridges spanning it’s width, the naval dockyard at Rosyth and the Bass Rock to name but a few.  I also liked the name from a sim racing point of view, as I had quite a few 4th place finishes when I started my career before finally getting that elusive podium finish.  The name just seems to fit, even if the spelling doesn’t quite!

The main aim of the team is enjoyment, no pressures, just pure racing pleasure!  I’m not going to ask anyone to drive for points or finish in the top ten of a championship.  All I can ask is that they put the effort in and do the best that they can.  I know from experience that you can get surprising results even if you’re not the quickest driver, you just have to focus and concentrate on the task in hand.

So, there it is.  I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my first post and the geography lesson! 🙂

  1. I’ve had the pleasure of racing in the same team as Paul and against him over the years and I can honestly say it has always been a pleasure to be on the same track. A very consistent, fair driver and always modest. The only thing wrong is him being Scottish. 🙂 Just kidding!

Hope the team does well for you.
