The penultimate race of the GPVWC Atlantic Series at Sebring brought with it plenty of surprises and some championship defining moments. Daniel was very quick again in practice and was looking for at least another podium to add to his supreme drive at Charlotte. He qualified in 3rd place, but it all went horribly wrong on lap 2 as he spun heading onto the second to last bend, dropping him down the order. Worse was to come as two laps later he spun again, this time on the final turn, ripping his rear wing off and retiring from the race. A really unfortunate end to a promising evening for him. I decided at the last minute to join the race as Rory was missing for this round and I couldn’t secure another driver to take his place. I had to take Mr Watkins car and qualified down in 19th place, although I felt very comfortable around this track, having raced it many times before. I started well, stayed consistently quick throughout and made up places as some big names retired and eventually made my way up to 9th by the end, holding off Alexander for the last 10 laps. The points moved me up to 8th in the drivers championship even though I’ve missed the last two races and the team is now sitting joint 5th in the constructors with one race to go.
