It was a very good evening for me, but a terrible one for Mark as we again suffered mixed fortunes in Round 3 of the GPVWC Formula Challenge championship at the Shanghai circuit in China. Mark qualified a place above me, but had to endure a back of the grid penalty from the previous round which was to be a thorn in his side the whole evening. In both races he got caught up in first corner incidents, requiring a pit stop in race 1, which restricted any chance of a decent result in either race. He eventually finished in 17th and 22nd for the two races and another disappointing event for him. I had a better evening altogether, taking a solid, if unspectacular 12th place in race 1, and getting the reverse grid pole position for race 2. I managed to stay in first place until near the end of the first lap, but eventually lost a few places to the faster drivers coming through the field. I’m delighted with the 6th place that I ended up in and it matched my result from the previous round with 12th and 6th place finishes.
